Afghan Switch

It now appears as if Obama will not go with any of his advisors suggestions on how to proceed with the fight in Afghanistan. He will not send any troops and instead put more pressure on the Afghani problem. I do not understand why he would not listen to General or McChrystall or Robert Gates. After all, Obama has no military experience; it seems that he is putting politics in front of our troops, and that is terrible.

Off the Air

During his telecast, Lou Dobbs abruptly announced that he will be leaving CNN immediately even though his contracted lasted through 2011. He made no advanced public announcement. Even stranger, he did not even tell his coworkers until this morning. He said that he was still committed to furthering debate on important issues. One has to wonder what he will do. Will he run for office or go to another station? We shall see.

Polling Trouble

Americans continue to lose faith in the President. While his approval rating remains unchanged at 54%, more Americans think America is on the wrong track (56%!), have lost confidence in Iraq and Afghanistan, and are losing confidence in the economy. The honeymoon has come to a crashing end, thanks to the debacle that has become healthcare. He needs to become a unifier once again and stop being a partisan divider. He should begin by changing the tone on healthcare. We should start from scratch and get a bipartisan bill. However, don't expect this to happen as democrats have proved to be extremely stubborn.

20 Years Later

Today marks the twentieth anniversary of the collapse of the Berlin Wall, which was the ultimate symbol of the tearing down of the Iron Curtain that divided the European Continent between the Communists in the East and Democracies in the West for twenty-eight years. Important world leaders past and present, including Merkel, Medvedev, Gorbachev, and Bush 41, all attended the ceremony, but one man was conspicuously absent. Yes, that's right. Russia's President was there, and America's President, Barack Obama, was not. Why didn't here appear in Germany when he went to Copenhagen to woo the Olympic Committee unsuccessfully? Maybe, he didn't want to admit that a republican was responsible for the action. Don't feel any doubt; President Reagan is the reason why the U.S.S.R. and the wall fell. Who will ever forget his famous remarks, "Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall." Today, we thank President Reagan.

Trouble in the South

Hugo Chavez continues to stir trouble on the international scene. He now is preparing for a total war with Colombia, a U.S. ally. Any conflict could quickly explode to a wide war as other South American countries try to maintain the status quo. The U.S. may also be forced to do something, which would only leader escalate the affair more.
